Quake-weary Mindanao rocked anew; 5 killed | INQUIRER.NET – A 6.5 magnitude quake struck at 9:11 am on Thursday two days after a 6.6 magnitude quake hit the region that left eight people dead. The Thursday quake left five people dead while a 6.3-magnitude temblor on Oct. 16 had five deaths. Areas that registered casualties and major damages to properties were Davao City and Cotabato province.

19 killed as truck plunges into Philippine ravine | The Manila Times – A truck carrying farmers that collected subsidized seeds and sacks of rice from the town of Conner, Apayao plunged backwards down a 65-foot ravine last Thursday. Nineteen farmers were killed and twenty more were injured but will survive.
