EJ Obiena makes history after winning the bronze medal in Men’s Pole Vault category at the World Athletics Championship in Hayward Field, Oregon, USA.
Obiena, on his second try, reset his personal best record of 5.94-meter clearance. He is the first Filipino to win a medal in the World Championships.
The reigning Olympic champion from Sweden, Arman Duplantis bagged the gold medal with a new record of 6.21-meter, while American Chris Nilsen finished with silver, having the same record as Obiena but clearing the height only once.
32 pole vaulters joined the competition.
