Phisgoc to Lacson: Every centavo spent to ensure ‘successful’ hosting of SEA Games | INQUIRER. NET –Every centavo spent on the preparation for the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games was for benefit of athletes, as well as to ensure the country’s “successful” hosting of the biennial, the Philippine Southeast Asian Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) said Thursday. This comes after Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson remarked that the transfer of the P1.5 billion in public funds, to be used for the preparation of the games, were transferred from the Philippine Sports Committee to Phisgoc.
De Lima files resolution investigating babies-for-sale trade | PHILSTAR.COM – Sen. Leila de Lima on Wednesday filed Senate Resolution No. 224 which sought to investigate what it said was a babies-for-sale trade in the Southeast Asian region. The senator invokes the country’s membership in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and The Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Cooperation, in Respect of Intercountry Adoption. In her resolution, she called for a comprehensive review of existing adoption and anti-trafficking laws, as well as their implementation and processes.
