These water concessions, however, were extended until 2037 during the time of then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Ombudsman panel looking into SEA Games funds | PHILSTAR.COM – The Office of the Ombudsman said Monday that it had already formed a panel to look into allegations of corruption in the Philippine Sea Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC). Ombudsman Samuel Martires told reporters that the seven-member panel’s fact-finding investigation has already begun and will cover PHISGOC officials, including House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano (Taguig).
South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi is 2019 Miss Universe | Manila Bulletin – Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi was crowned Miss Universe 2019 at the Tyler Perry Studios, Atlanta, Georgia, US on December 8 (December 9, Manila time). The runners-up were Miss Puerto Rico Madison Anderson (1st runner-up), and Miss Mexico Sofía Aragón (2nd runner-up). Tunzi became the first Miss Universe to wear the Mouawad crown or the “Power of Unity” crown. In her closing remarks, Tunzi said: “I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me, with my kind of skin, and my kind of hair was never considered to be beautiful and I think that it is time that, that stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face and I want them to see their faces reflected in mine.”
Makati stops giving POGO licenses | The Manila Times – Makati City will no longer accept new applications for Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) licenses, Mayor Abby Binay said. She declared an indefinite moratorium on the issuance of new business licenses and permits to service providers because of rising criminality and prostitution.
