Ex-DOTr chief Tugade might be called to Senate probe into air traffic mess | PHILSTAR.COMMANILA, Philippines — Sen. Jinggoy Estrada said Tuesday that former Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade should also be invited to the Senate’s upcoming investigation into the January 1 failure of the country’s air traffic management system.

Estrada’s suggestion to invite Tugade to the probe came after a Bilyonaryo report published Monday that suggested that the former transport chief diverted P13 billion allotted for a backup air traffic management system to “cosmetic projects” like the installation of electronic billboards and concreting of parking spaces at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Recruitment, manning agencies told to help OFWs affected by air traffic mess | PHILSTAR.COMMANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers has formally ordered all private recruitment agencies (PRAs) and licensed manning agencies (LMAs) to assist overseas Filipino workers who were unable to leave the country due to the New Year’s Day air traffic system outage.

In an advisory dated January 3, Migrant Workers Secretary Susan “Toots” Ople also instructed PRAs and LMAs to send the department reports on the status of the OFWs as well as contact their employers regarding the incident.

Transport group tells passengers affected by aviation tech issue to sue CAAP | INQUIRER.NETA transport advocate group has urged passengers affected by a technical issue that kept flights across the country either grounded or diverted on New Year’s Day to file for damages against the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

Commuter network The Passenger Forum (TPF) in a statement on Tuesday said that CAAP must be held liable for making the worst New Year air transport situation in the country’s history.
