Lacson: Some congressmen trying to ‘recover’ vetoed items through 2020 budget | INQUIRER.NET – Senator Panfilo Lacson alleged Thursday that some congressmen are attempting to “recover” allocations for projects already vetoed in the 2019 national budget through insertions in the country’s spending bill for next year. Lacson earlier said he received a file from the House of Representatives detailing last-minute insertions, mostly on flood-control projects.
Robredo failed to meet with ICAD clusters — PDEA chief | PHILSTAR.COM – Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) chief Aaron Aquino said on Thursday that former Inter-agency Committee on Anti-illegal Drugs (ICAD) co-chair Leni Robredo had certain missteps during her stint as co-chair of the committee. “Nakita niya there is no clear baseline of drug users and drug pushers. But now Dangerous Drugs Board is determining that. We are hoping it will be consolidated by early 2020,” he said at a press briefing in Malacañang. However, Aquino said one of VP Robredo’s failures was she did not meet and coordinate with the different clusters under the committee. “Siguro may missteps na nangyari sa kanya na she should have met all the four clusters. Sana plinan out niya anong gagawin ko,” he said. “How would you understand everything if you’re not meeting with these people tapos itong ibang agencies, minimeet mo?”
No liquor consumption in government offices – CSC | Manila Bulletin – The Civil Service Commission reminds government workers nationwide on the prohibition on the consumption of alcoholic beverages in government offices even during office Christmas parties. Pursuant to CSC Resolution No. 1100039, the consumption of alcoholic beverages such as, but not limited to malt, wine and intoxicating liquor in workplace among government officials and employees during office hours is prohibited.
Groups gang up on Villar over ‘galunggong’ | The Manila Times – Fisher and peasant groups on Wednesday urged Sen. Cynthia Villar’s to help ensure stable food supply instead of issuing “callous” remarks. In separate statements, the Pambansang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya) and National Federation of Peasant Women (Amihan) criticized Villar for her statement on the high cost of galunggong (round scad). In an interview on Tuesday, Villar said if Filipinos could not afford the fish, then they should eat vegetables instead.
