Six Pinoy Athletes to Compete in Tokyo Paralympics

After its successful campaign in the recent Tokyo Olympics, the Philippines will try to make another historic stint, and this time in Paralympics as six Filipino para-athletes will compete in the Tokyo Paralympics.
The games will run from August 24 to September 5, 2021, and will feature 539 events across 22 sports. Our para-athletes will join four events.
Jerrold Pete Mangliwan will compete in the Men’s wheelchair race. He is also the Team Philippines’ flag bearer in the opening ceremony. Jeanette Aceveda will play in the Women’s division.
Asian Para Games’ gold medalist Ernie Gawilan will compete in swimming, alongside Gary Bejino, who was a silver medalist in the 2018 Asian Para Games.
Achelle Guion and Allain Ganapin will join the powerlifting and the taekwondo events, respectively.
Cash incentives from business tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan await medalists — Php5 million for gold, Php2.5 million for silver, and Php500,000 for bronze medalists.
