Robredo gives advice on choosing next leader: ‘Dahil mahal ka’ | Manila BulletinWhat qualities make a good president? These qualities may be academic, professional, and moral excellence, but for Vice President Leni Robredo it is beyond that. A good leader should love and care for the people. Robredo, who is seeking the presidency, released a video reminding Filipinos to choose the right leaders in the 2022 elections. “Ngayon, ano bang takot mo? Gutom? Walang trabaho? COVID? Pero bukas pa ang bukas. Panahon nang pumili muli (Right now, what is your fear? Hunger? Unemployment? COVID? There is still tomorrow. It’s time to choose again),” she said in a Facebook video on Sunday, Nov. 14. “Ang dapat piliin, walang bahid ng korapsyon, ibibigay nang buong-buo ang dapat sa iyo. Dahil mahal ka. Ako si Leni Robredo. At araw-araw pinipili kita (The person you should pick is someone who is not tainted with corruption, the one who completely gives everything that should be yours. Because you’re loved. I’m Leni Robredo. And everyday I’m choosing you),” Robredo added. The Vice President made the video a day before the deadline for the substitution of national candidates for the 2022 polls. She was unbothered by all the drama that unfolded among President Duterte’s allies on Saturday, Nov. 13, that included his close aide, Senator Bong Go’s withdrawal from vice presidential race and instead sought the presidency via substitution.

Duterte: I would not be president if people can manipulate me | PHILSTAR.COMPresident Rodrigo Duterte clarified that he was the one who encouraged his former aide Sen. Bong Go to seek the presidency as he vowed to reveal why he could not back the presidential bids of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. and Sen. Manny Pacquiao. Duterte claimed that Go, who initially sought to run for vice president, had wanted to withdraw his candidacy because Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio decided to seek the same post. “He (Go) said Inday (Carpio) would run and that he would withdraw his candidacy. He doesn’t want to run anymore. I said, ‘Why decide that way? You have already started. Just run for president. That’s what they did to you. Go ahead. Let’s see,” the president said in Filipino during an interview with pro-Duterte vlogger Banat By.   “Bong was crying. I said, ‘Do not cry. Why cry? The position of president is open. You run. Why cry just because my daughter suddenly decided to run?'” he added. Last Saturday, Go withdrew his bid for vice president to run for president. Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar has said Duterte — who announced his plan to retire from politics last month — would file his certificate of candidacy for vice president on Monday. Duterte denied that he is being manipulated by people around him and maintained that he is the one providing “guidance” to Go.

Robredo camp on recent substitutions in polls: ‘Nakita na natin ‘yang drama na ganyan’ | INQUIRER.NETThe camp of presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo was unsurprised by the recent political developments in the country ahead of the 2022 elections. President Rodrigo Duterte’s daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Saturday filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for vice president. Soon after, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go lodged his candidacy for the presidency in the upcoming polls. President Duterte, meanwhile, revealed that he will run for vice president, possibly contesting against his daughter, but has yet to file his COC. “Si VP Leni, chill lang… Matagal na naman nating alam na papunta dito. Nakita na natin ‘yang drama na ganyan. Alam na natin ‘yung mga ganyang klaseng drama, ‘yung talagang pipigain at aabusuhin ‘yung proseso ng substitution,” Robredo’s spokesperson Barry Gutierrez said in BISErbisyong LENI on DZXL. (VP Leni is just chill… We all know that we would end up here. We have seen this drama before. We know that kind of drama where the process of substitution will be abused.)
