Subic Bay Freeport to host P15B ‘eco-friendly’ Taiwanese industrial park | INQUIRER.NET – The SBMA chair and administrator said that Xantheng Subic International Corp. (Taiwanese company) had committed to invest P15 billion for the industrial park that will house light industrial factories, commercial facilities, residential buildings and a nature park within the Subic Bay Freeport. The project is named Tipo Hightech Eco Park (THEP) and will be located in a 200-hectare property in Tipo area near the expressway leading to this free port.
Chinese ship that sank GemVer possibly part of maritime militia — report | Philippine Star – The Washington based think tank Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative (AMTI) reported that the Chinese vessel Yuemaobinyu 42212 that sank the GemVer (Filipino fishing boat) in a collision had turned off its Automatic Identification System (AIS) at the time of the incident. The same think tank had traced the dates that the Yuemaobinyu 42212 had turned off its AIS and its port of origin. Chinese public report disclosed that maritime militia units have been established at the port of origin of Yuemaobinyu 42212.

Two-year probationary period for workers an indecent proposal – labor group | Manila Bulletin – The Nagkaisa Labor Coalition on Thursday reacted to the proposal of Probinsyano Ako party-list Rep. Jose “Bonito” Singson Jr. to extend the maximum probationary period for workers from six months to two years. In its statement, the Nagkakaisa Labor Coalition said that the proposal is, “is an indecent proposal and contrary to the ‘Decent Work Agenda’ that the Philippines has committed to in its Decent Work Country Program with International Labor Organization to address social and economic exclusion, poverty, and inequality.”
