PNP-CIDG files criminal charges vs Albayalde | INQUIRER.NET – The PNP CIDG amended its complaint against the alleged “ninja cops” involved in the controversial Pampanga drug raid in 2013. The amended complaint included the former PNP chief. Albayalde is facing a complaint for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 for misappropriation, misapplication or failure to account for the confiscated, seized and/or surrendered dangerous drugs.
PNP puts key officials on 3-month probation | PHILSTAR.COM – PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa announced, “Beginning today, all key positions are under probation for three months and all promotions will be on hold” on Monday morning Camp Crame briefing. This was after a major reshuffle of key officials in various positions nationwide. At least 20 ranking positions were filled in a series of new orders signed on October 19 and which took effect Sunday with the approval of Malacañang.
Journalist, companion killed in Pampanga ambush | The Manila Times – Jupiter Gonzales, a columnist of Remate, and his friend Christopher Tiongson were killed in an ambush in Arayat, Pampanga on Sunday. The victims were on board a Nissan Almera with plate number AQA-8441 when they were attacked by unidentified gunmen at about 10:30 p.m. Tiongson died on the spot. Gonzales was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Fewer Filipinos consider themselves poor – SWS survey | Manila Bulletin – The latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey conducted from September 27 to 30 among 1,800 respondents, 42 percent of families or about 10.3 million households considered themselves poor. This is lower than the 45 percent or about 11 million families in June 2019.
