So it’s February—again!—and most likely your friends are teasing you because, well, you’re still single.
Do not fret. You are not alone. There are approximately 34 million single people in the Philippines according to the 2015 Philippine census. Many chances of getting a partner in the future, right? Right! But it may take a miracle to get a forever date in 24 hours.
Valentine’s Day is the best time to celebrate single blessedness and self-love.
So, single ladies (and gents), here are some ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day:
- Bond with your parents.
When was the last time you treated your mother and father to dinner? There’s nothing more romantic than planning a date with your parents on Valentine’s Day. Make it a trio date! You can be the desired third wheel.
- Buy yourself something.
Valentine’s Day is also giving time. Take advantage of those awesome “Buy 1 Take 1 Sale” or “Super Discounted Promos.” Go ahead, buy what you like! You deserve it.
- Pamper yourself.
When was the last time you had a jacuzzi bath? When was the last time you enjoyed a relaxing massage? When was the last time you treat yourself to a staycation? Show more love to your hardworking self this Valentine’s Day by pampering yourself. Like what they say, you need to love yourself first before you can start loving others.
- Travel impulsively.
If you have any place in mind that you want to visit, now is the time to go and do it! There’s fulfillment in seeing a new place where no one knows your name, where you discover a different culture, and where you can focus on a new experience. Who knows? You’ll meet your future partner somewhere.
- Go for that movie marathon.
If you don’t feel like going out on Valentine’s Day because of the crowd or you’re simply an introvert, you can stay at home and watch movies. The best way to enjoy the movie marathon is by ordering your favorite pizza and drinks.
- Call the gang, preferably the singles.
If you can’t beat them, join them! Call the whole gang and paint the town red.
Remember that Valentine’s Day is not just for couples and sweethearts. Love encompasses everything. Ignore couple-themed celebrations. These are so passé. Self-love is more important because this points the way to a more holistic existence. Love yourself before you can love others.
