Diosdado Peralta is new Chief Justice | INQUIRER.NET – President Duterte appointed Supreme Court Associate Justice Diosdado Peralta as the new Chief Justice. Supreme Court spokesperson Atty. Brian Keith Hosaka said that they received a copy of Peralta’s appointment paper at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday through the Office of Clerk of Court. Peralta replaced former chief justice Lucas Bersamin who retired on October 18.
Magalong thinks criminal raps vs Albayalde ‘a weak case’ | PHILSTAR.COM – Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong said Wednesday that he cautiously welcomes the filing of charges against former Philippine National Police Gen. Oscar Albayalde. He believes that the cases were hastily filed and would be dismissed for being “weak”.
Senate honors ‘Nene’ Pimentel | The Manila Times – Senate President Vicente Sotto 3rd led the Senate in paying tribute and honoring the life and accomplishments of the late senator Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Jr. Wednesday morning. Pimentel succumbed to pneumonia and lymphoma complications on October 20 at the age of 85.
Brace for cooler, drier days ahead; Angat Dam water declines further | Manila Bulletin – Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasted that cold and dry northeast monsoon is possible by the end of this week or early next week. The cold and dry air coming from the northeast could bring colder early morning temperature in the coming days and months over Luzon, with chances of light rains, especially over the northern and eastern section. Amihan is associated with surges of cold weather that may last until February or March. Meanwhile, weather conditions over Visayas and Mindanao will be generally fair but isolated rain showers or thunderstorms could be more frequent in the afternoon or evening.
