3rd wealth case vs Marcoses junked | INQUIRER.NET – The Sandiganbayan Resolution dated Oct. 14 but made public only on Friday, junked a P267.371 million ill-gotten wealth case against dictator Ferdinand Marcos, his widow, Imelda, and several associates due to insufficient evidence. This is the third such case against the Marcoses and their cronies dismissed on the same grounds by the antigraft court this year. The court’s Fourth Division said that the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) had violated the “best evidence rule,” or Rule 130, Section 3 of the Rules of Court, which mandates that original documents, not just copies, must be presented as evidence.
Ex-Senate president Nene Pimentel laid to rest | PHILSTAR.COM – Former Senate president Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Jr. was brought to his final resting place on Saturday. His remains were interred at the Heritage Park in Taguig City past 11 a.m. He was 85.
Bohol Gov Yap suspended for 90 days over graft raps | The Manila Times – Bohol Governor Arthur Yap was meted 90-day preventive suspension by the Sandiganbayan’s Third Division for cases filed against him by the Office of the Ombudsman in 2017. These cases were over the alleged misappropriation of his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or pork barrel allocation totaling P62.63 million between 2007 and 2009.
