PDEA chief gets back police escorts | INQUIRER.NET – PDEA Spokesperson Derrick Carreon confirmed that the police escorts of PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino had been redeployed to secure him. These police escorts had been recalled last September 18 and redeployed September 26. PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde denied that the reason for the recall of security escorts was due to Aquino’s expose on “ninja cops”. Albayalde said that it might be mere coincidence because police personnel of Central Luzon are being utilized to secure the forthcoming Southeast Asian Games in in Clark and Tarlac and Aquino’s security escorts are from the said police office.
Robredo welcomes US Senate panel ban on De lima jailers | PHILSTAR.COM – The approval of a US Senate panel of an amendment seeking to ban entry of Philippine government officials involved in the detention of Sen. Leila de Lima was welcomed by Vice President Leni Robredo. The Vice President said that the amendment approval manifest that “they are serious in their campaign against human rights violations and the use of power of the government to harass political opponents”.

Jeepney strike harries commuters; drivers seek audience with Duterte | ABS-CBN News – Several jeepney groups stopped plying their routes this morning in a bid to have an audience with President Duterte in relation to the PUV modernization plan. Alliance of Concerned Transport Organizations (ACTO) president Efren De Luna said that they are not against the modernization but the requirements for modernization that small operations will not be able to cope. He cited the worth of a new jeepney model, which is around P2.5 million and will not qualify for government loans and the requirement for a vast depot.
