Limited operations at NAIA as air traffic system ‘partially restored’ | PHILSTAR.COM – The air traffic system that encountered issues and caused interruptions in flight operations around the country and put flights to and from Manila “on hold” has now been partially restored, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said.

Christmas weekend floods: Infra damage hits P1.1 billion; 46 dead | PHILSTAR.COM – Damage to infrastructure due to heavy rain and floods caused by the shear line during the Christmas weekend has reached more than P1.1 billion.
In a bulletin issued yesterday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said infrastructure facilities worth P1.137 billion were damaged in Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Zamboanga peninsula, Davao, Caraga and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Roads, bridges and utility services were among those affected.

Pope leads New Year’s services with homage to ‘beloved’ Benedict | INQUIRER.NET – VATICAN CITY – Pope Francis hailed the “beloved” Benedict XVI on Sunday as he addressed thousands of Catholics in New Year’s Day services at the Vatican, the day after his predecessor died aged 95.
“Today we entrust the beloved pope emeritus Benedict XVI to the most holy mother (the Virgin Mary), to accompany him in his passage from this world to God,” Francis said at a mass for peace at St Peter’s Basilica.
