Davao farmer’s cacao beans win int’l award in Paris | INQUIRER.NET – The International Cocoa Awards (ICA) recognized Auro Chocolate Famer Jose Saguban last Oct. 30 in Paris, France as one of its 20 winners. The awards ceremony took place at the Salon du Chocolat, an annual trade fair for the international chocolate industry and attended by hundreds of industry professionals and the world’s top chocolatiers.
Quake evacuees face flash floods, lack of drinking water | PHILSTAR.COM – Flash floods worsened the situation for earthquake-affected villagers at the boundary of Datu Paglas, Maguindnao and Tulunan, North Cotabato. Calamity responders and relief workers from the office of the provincial governor of Lanao del Sur were dispatched on Friday to North Cotabato to deliver two truckloads of relief supplies for evacuees. Likewise, Datu Paglas MDDRC and motorcyclists belonging to the Cowboy Riders group rescued dozens of families as rampaging flood waters spawned by heavy downpours swept through their barangays on Friday night. Evacuees have been making calls over radio stations in Kidapawan City for donations of bottled water and tarpaulins that they can use as roofing material for temporary shelters.
Magnitude 4.4 hits Sarangani – Phivolcs | The Manila Times – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said another magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck parts of Southern Mindanao anew, following the 4.5 tremor in Cotabato early Saturday. The epicenter of the tremor that was felt at 1:03 p.m. was 153 kilometers southwest of Sarangani and Davao Occidental. It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 313 kilometers from the surface.
