Aguinaldo situation ‘normal,’ no mass resignation in AFP, says spox | INQUIRER.NET – MANILA, Philippines — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Saturday denied a report that military personnel have allegedly resigned en masse. AFP spokesperson Col. Medel Aguilar added that the situation at the AFP’s Camp Aguinaldo headquarters in Quezon City is normal.
“Everything is normal,” Aguilar told INQUIRER.net when asked about the situation in Camp Aguinaldo.
“There is no truth to the report,” Aguilar said when asked about the alleged mass resignation in the AFP.
“The AFP is a professional organization,” Aguilar said.
PNP on heightened alert for Black Nazarene feast, not for alleged destab plot, says spox | INQUIRER.NET – MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) is on heightened alert status to prepare for the Black Nazarene feast in Manila on January 9, and not because of an alleged destabilization plot inside the Armed Forces of the Philippines, PNP spokesperson Jean Fajardo said Saturday.
As for the alleged destabilization plot inside the military, Fajardo said the AFP should be the one to comment.

Centino back as AFP chief of staff | PHILSTAR.COM – MANILA, Philippines (Updated 2:57 p.m.) — Gen. Andres Centino is back as chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, just five months after he handed the reins of the military to Lt. Gen. Bartolome Bacarro — who took over Centino’s post in August 2022.
According to a statement from the Malacañang released Friday night, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. led the oath taking of Centino as the “new Chief of Staff of the [AFP].”

Oil prices down next week | PHILSTAR.COM – MANILA, Philippines — Pump prices are seen going down next week, with a hefty rollback possibly in store for diesel and kerosene.
Rino Abad, Department of Energy’s oil industry management bureau director, said chances are high for a rollback in the prices of gasoline, diesel and kerosene next week based on the first four trading days of the week.
He estimates a price reduction of not more than P0.50 per liter for gasoline and a decrease of around P1.50 per liter for both diesel and kerosene.
