Multiple murder raps filed vs Rep. Teves over 2019 killings | PHILSTAR.COMMANILA, Philippines — A multiple murder complaint has been filed against Rep. Arnolfo Teves (Negros Oriental, 3rd District) over a series of killings in 2019.

The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on Tuesday afternoon filed three counts of murder against Teves and five others. They are:

  • Alias Hannah Mae (3 counts)
  • Richard Cuadra alias Boy Cuadra (2 counts)
  • Jasper Tanasan alias Bobong Tanasan (2 counts)
  • Rolando Pinili alias Inday (2 counts)
  • Alex Mayagma (1 count)

The killings supposedly happened on March 25 in Dumaguete, May 26 in Basay and June 23 in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental in 2019.

Teves, on Monday afternoon, denied having links to the brazen killing of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo.

Four suspects charged with murder, frustrated murder over brazen Degamo killing | PHILSTAR.COMMANILA, Philippines — Four suspects have been charged with murder and frustrated murder before the Tanjay, Negros Oriental Regional Trial Court over the brazen killing of Gov. Roel Degamo, the Department of Justice said.

But the four suspects in the killing have also expressed intent to cooperate with probers. This, after the DOJ said they may be put under the government’s Witness Protection Program, pending review of the significance of their testimonies.

In a statement on Tuesday, the DOJ said the following face three counts of murder and frustrated murder before the Negros Oriental court:

  • Joric Garido Labrador
  • Joven Calibjo Javier
  • Banjie Buladola Rodriguez
  • Osmundo Rojas Rivero

Twelve other suspects who remain unidentified also face the same set of charges before the Negros Oriental charge.

Cops in Bayawan City, where suspects in Degamo murder fled, axed | INQUIRER.NETDUMAGUETE CITY — The Philippine National Police on Tuesday relieved all policemen and personnel of the Bayawan City Police Office, where the suspects in the murder of nine persons, including Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo, escaped after the killing.

Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas, said the city police needed “fresh legs” on the ground as they continued to pursue the remaining suspects.

A new team of policemen took over the Bayawan City Police Office.

Ballistic examination of the assault rifles recovered in Bayawan on March 4 had fingerprints matching those of the four arrested suspects.

The two sports utility vehicles used by the assailants were also traced to Cebu City.

PCG gets 9 new rigid hull inflatable boats worth P44 million | INQUIRER.NETMANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Tuesday received nine additional rigid hull inflatable boats worth P44 million.

The donation from PCG Auxiliary, a uniformed civilian volunteer organization, includes five units of single-engine assets that cost P4 million each and the four units of single-engine assets priced at P6 million each.

According to PCG, the assets will be delivered to Coast Guard Sub-Stations located in Manila and Olongapo as well as to Coast Guard Districts in Southeastern Mindanao, Western Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Southern Tagalog.The deed of donation for and blessing of the nine assets took place at PCG National Headquarters in Port Area, Manila.
