Robredo tours Camarines Norte, Sorsogon on second day of campaign | INQUIRER.NET – Vice President Leni Robredo’s second campaign day involved a tour of Camarines Norte and then Sorsogon — where she was welcomed by senatorial candidate and Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero in a program at the provincial capitol. Robredo on Wednesday started her tour at Camarines Norte’s capital of Daet, where she reminded voters to be more discerning of candidates presenting themselves as the answer to the country’s problems — but have not delivered solutions when they had the chance. Robredo also said that she hopes politics in the province would not be a reason to be divisive, as she is advocating for a government that is clean and good — which all of them should aspire for.
All candidates must participate in debates — PPCRV exec | INQUIRER.NET – All candidates in the 2022 elections should join debates, especially those set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), to allow them to present before voters their respective government platforms, an official of the election watchdog Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) said Wednesday. PPCRV Chairman Emeritus, Ambassasor Henrietta De Villa said debates and fora are the only opportunities for candidates to present to voters their plans for the country should they win in the May 9 polls. Candidates can also prove their competence in the positions they are seeking in the exchanges among the aspirants, she said. (I hope all of the candidates will participate in the debates and interviews. They should participate because it is their opportunity to let the voters know their platform of government.) (And in the exchanges of questions, they can prove their competence for the position they are vying.) De Villa said candidates should not fear joining debates for as long as they are “offering the truth.”
Ruel ‘Bong’ Ricafort denies ownership of Tiktok account; belies posting ‘kill threat’ against BBM | Manila Bulletin – The person, who allegedly posted the threats on social media platform TikTok on the assassination of presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and who surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), denied ownership of the account. “Actually yung account pong iyon hindi po akin yun (The TikTok account that was used to make the threat is not mine),” said Ruel “Bong” Ricafort during a press conference held by the NBI following his surrender on Tuesday, Feb. 8. While he admitted having a TikTok account and professed being a supporter of presidential candidate and Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo, Ricafort said the account used to post the threat “was faked.” “Yung ginawa pong iyon yung account ko sa Facebook kinuha yung profile pic ko then yung name ko po (The TikTok account used came from my Facebook account where my picture was taken), he stressed. He was accompanied by his lawyer. But Ricafort, who said he is a member of “Bikers for Leni” and even holds a position as captain of the group’s San Juan chapter, claimed he does not know who made the alleged fake account. I don’t even know why I got dragged into this),” he lamented. Ricafort said he was shocked to learn from other people that he made threats against Marcos.
Escudero shares stage with Robredo in Sorsogon, but silent on endorsement | PHILSTAR.COM – Sorsogon Gov. Francis “Chiz” Escudero shared the stage Wednesday with Vice President Leni Robredo in his home turf but remained silent on whether he is endorsing her for president. Escudero, who is running for senator under the Nationalist People’s Coalition, wore white as he sat next to Robredo at a campaign stop in Sorsogon and briefly introduced her to the pink-clad crowd. It is no surprise that Escudero is not publicly backing Robredo’s presidential bid. While he is part of the Robredo ticket as a guest candidate, he is also included in the Senate slates of Sens. Ping Lacson and Manny Pacquiao, who are both also running for president.
