Robredo: Election is about choosing the type of politics in next 6 years | INQUIRER.NETVice President Leni Robredo said Saturday that the election is not just about selecting the most skillful candidate but also about choosing the type of politics and leadership Filipinos will want to see in the next six years. Speaking at the balcony of St. Joseph Cathedral in Balanga, Bataan before a pink-clad crowd, Robredo pointed at how significant the upcoming May 9 elections will be for the country’s future. (You and I know that this election is really important. It is not just about choosing the most skillful candidate but about choosing the kind of politics and leadership we want to prevail in our country in the next six years.) Robredo said she will face the remaining 86 days of the campaign period with confidence because of the backing of her supporters. (You are showing us this morning that your commitment to be part of the change for a better leadership is really alive.) (You are not just giving me courage, but you are telling us this morning that this fight is also yours.) (I hope you will not get tired of continuing the fight. You hold the power to choose the path that our country will take in the next six years.)

9 dead in Maguindanao ambush | PHILSTAR.COMNine people got killed in an ambush here on Saturday morning in what the police and military said was rooted to a longtime ”rido” between two Moro clans. Rido is a generic term for clan war in many Southern Philippine languages. The Maguindanao provincial police and the Army’s 6th Infantry Division confirmed the death of nine persons in the incident, among them Pagz Mamasainged, also known as “Commander Black Magic,” who died instantly from multiple bullet wounds. They were on board a maroon Mitsubishi Montero and a black Ford Ranger pick-up truck that their attackers shot with assault rifles while maneuvering through a secluded stretch of a road connecting Barangay Kalumamis to the Cotabato-Isulan Highway. Major Gen. Juvymax Uy, commander of 6th ID, said Mamasainged and his followers are adversaries of another group led by Jordan Mamalintang and his son, Morsid.
