Baguilat disputes Erice: Some really seek leadership with machinery, ambition | INQUIRER.NET – A Liberal Party (LP) senatorial candidate countered a former member’s tirades against Vice President Leni Robredo, saying that some people really only think about following people with a traditional politician’s brand of leadership and one who has the machinery for the elections. In a video posted by LP’s official Facebook page on Tuesday, former Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat said that Robredo has a different leadership style, as she supposedly puts country above all else. In addition to that, Baguilat said that the outpouring of support for Robredo after she announced her candidacy last Thursday is a testament to her leadership abilities. “May mga tao na ang hanap ‘yung leadership na pang-trapo; ‘yung leadership ng makinarya at pera na magagamit para sa pansariling ambisyon. Ang leadership ni VP Leni iisa lang ang tuon: Ano ba ang mabuti para sa bansa?” he asked. (Some people are really looking for the leadership of traditional politicians, those with the political machinery, to use for their personal ambition. The leadership of VP Leni focuses on one thing: what is best for the country?) “Nakita naman natin noong Thursday ‘yung tremendous and overwhelmingly positive response ng taumbayan sa leadership na interes lang ng bayan ang inuuna. ‘Yan ang totoong leadership; a leadership that inspires,” he added. (We saw last Thursday the tremendous and overwhelmingly positive response of the people regarding her leadership which only puts the interest of the country upfront. That is true leadership, a leadership that inspires.)
‘People’s campaign’: Robredo supporters set up online donation portal | Manila Bulletin – Facing the difficulty of lack of machinery and resources, Vice President and presidential aspirant Leni Robredo needs all the help she can get. Unlike other presidential bets who had been preparing for years, it seems she had none at all for her campaign. In response, Robredo’s supporters and volunteer groups took up the cudgel for her by setting up an online donation portal aiming to encourage others to support her candidacy. Vice presidential spokesman Barry Gutierrez said this donation portal (donation.teamlenirobredo.com) was launched by volunteers of Team Leni Robredo. “Balita ko lang dahil sa dami ng gustong mag-donate, may konting technical issues minsan (I heard because of the big number of those who want to donate, there are some technical issues sometimes). But, I guess, good problem to have, diba (right)?,” he said in a Twitter post. Donors may give an amount ranging from P50 to P20,000 and have control over when and how often they will give donations. Public donations poured in for Robredo when she finally threw her hat in the 2022 presidential race, ending months of speculations about her political plans. After her last week’s presidential bid announcement, a flood of pink-themed photos dominated social media as celebrities, artists, and ordinary Filipinos posted something pink on their social media accounts.
