‘Drug war better off without Robredo’ | The Manila Times – The government’s war on illegal drugs is better off without Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo leading the campaign, the head of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Thursday. “Nahirapan kasi ako eh to be honest. Number one, it’s hard for me to dictate dahil vice president siya eh Usec. lang naman ako (To be honest with you it was really tough for me. She’s the vice president and I’m just an Undersecretary),” Aquino told reporters. “Pangalawa, hindi ko rin madictate kung ano ang dapat niyang gawin or hindi. Sinabihan ko lang siya, ‘Ma’am imeet mo ito ‘(I could not dictate on her. I just told her, ‘Ma’am you should meet these people’). So when she started meeting with the other foreign groups, hindi ko rin siya mapigilan (I could not really stop her),” he added. Aquino issued the statement after Robredo said she would submit next week a “report” to the public and would announce what she had “uncovered” when during her brief stint at the ICAD.
