8 soldiers dead in Sulu clash with Abu Sayyaf | The Manila Times – Eight soldiers died while two were wounded on Friday after clashing with Abu Sayyaf rebels in Patikul, Sulu. A military field report said that soldiers under the 21st Infantry Battalion were conducting a combat and strike operation at Sitio Bud Lubong, Barangay Danag when they encountered about 40 Abu Sayyaf rebels at 3:05 p.m. The terrorists are believed to be under the command of Radullan Sahiron and Hajan Sawadjaan.
