PAGCOR warns vs suspicious offshore gaming job offers | PHILSTAR.COM – MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation advised the public to be cautious of offshore gaming-related employment opportunities offered in dating and messaging applications.
The state-run gaming and regulatory firm said it is investigating reports of offshore gaming jobs offered by “unscrupulous groups” to Filipinos and foreigners.
“The job postings, usually looking for prospective Customer Service Representatives with experience in cryptocurrency trading, entice unsuspecting victims with high-paying jobs and numerous attractive benefits only to find themselves being used in scam activities,” PAGCOR said in an advisory.
According to PAGCOR, online dating services and cryptocurrency investments are not part of its offshore gaming licensees and service providers.
It asked the public to report information on such unauthorized activities to its hotline 0927-809-8610 or email info@pagcor.ph.

Bangsamoro leaders ask SC to nullify some provisions of region’s election code | PHILSTAR.COM –MANILA, Philippines — Fifteen Bangsamoro leaders asked the Supreme Court to nullify certain provisions of the autonomous region’s electoral code and issue a temporary restraining order to stop the implementation of the legislation.
In their 64-page petition, the Bangsamoro leaders alleged the Bangsamoro Electoral Code was issued by the Bangsamoro Transition Authority and signed by Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Interim Chief Minister Ahod Balawag “with grave abuse of discretion amounting to lack or excess of jurisdiction.”
The petitioners said in a statement Sunday that the BEC encroaches upon the powers of the Supreme Court to promulgate rules and regulations concerning election cases filed within lower courts.
They added the provision defining and penalizing election offenses encroaches upon the powers of the Commission on Elections “since matters pertaining to election offenses are within the powers of the Comelec.”
The BEC was approved by the 64 members of the BTA and immediately signed by the chief minister on March 8. The law took effect on May 17.
