Murder charges filed vs Sandra Cam | INQUIRER.NET – The National Bureau of Investigation filed murder and frustrated murder charges against Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office board member Sandra Cam on Friday over the killing of Batuan, Masbate, Vice Mayor Charlie Yuson III in Sampaloc, Manila, last year. Aside from Cam, the NBI also charged Cam’s son Marco Martin Cam and current Batuan acting Mayor Nelson Cambaya for the killing, which supposedly stemmed from a dispute over Batuan town’s mayorship.
Leni Robredo mom dies | PHILSTAR.COM – Sally Gerona, the mother of Vice President Leni Robredo, died last night. She was 83. The wake will start at 4 p.m. today at the Eternal Chapels and Mortuary, Eternal Gardens, Balatas Road in Naga City.
Series of forest fires raging in secluded Benguet town | Manila Bulletin – A series of forest fires have hit the secluded town of Tublay in Benguet, with the latest breaking out at 12:30 a.m., Sunday, according to the Benguet Provincial Police Office (BPPO). According to BPPO Director Col. Elmer Ragay, barangay personnel from Sitio Tinuping, Barangay Eddet Kabayan in Tublay town reported that a forest fire started at around midnight, and was still ongoing as of press time. Ragay said the Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), Kabayan police, and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) responded to the fire.
Doctor ready to face rap over Dengvaxia scandal | The Manila Times – A doctor indicted by the Department of Justice (DoJ) over his involvement in the distribution of the Dengvaxia vaccine is optimistic that the case will be dismissed due to lack of sufficient evidence. “Alam ko kung ano ang totoo kaya hindi ako natatakot at buong tapang ko itong haharapin (I know the truth that’s why I am not afraid and will face this [case] bravely),” Julius Lecciones, executive director of the Philippine Children’s Medical Center said in a statement on Saturday.
