Robredo: Where were the other bets before the campaign period started? | INQUIRER.NETVice President Leni Robredo urged voters to ask her rivals in the presidential race what they did and where they were before the campaign period started. At the “Camanava Rock and Rosas” concert rally at the Notre Dame of Greater Manila and St. Mary’s Academy of Caloocan City open fields on Saturday night, Robredo said she provided assistance, particularly medical aid, to Caloocan City despite losing in the Camanava (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) area during the 2016 vice-presidential election. Noong hindi pa ba sila kandidato at wala pang eleksyon, asan sila? Pag sinabi nilang mahal nila kayo, tanungin po ninyo, papano ba nila pinakita ‘yung pagmamahal nila sa inyo noong hindi pa kampanya?” she asked. Robredo said that after the 2016 vice presidential race where she lost in the Camanava, she looked past party colors and tried to provide programs that would help everybody in the area. Robredo’s speech also appeared to be the shortest in any of her rallies, after she cut it short to mark Earth Hour. Before the concert, members of Robredo’s slate for the 2022 national elections visited other areas in the cities of Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela, before converging at the Monumento Circle in Caloocan. Robredo’s running mate Senator Francis Pangilinan was also at the venue for the campaign. Performing at the event were bands Ben & Ben, Chicosci, Tanya Markova, Tropical Depression, Color It Red, Prettier than Pink, Kontra Gapi, and Gracenote. Before Robredo went onstage, she also met with Elmer Cordero, known as “Tatay Elmer”, one of the jeepney drivers from the Piston 6 group who were arrested in 2020 for protesting the transport ban amid the pandemic.

Phivolcs to keep Taal under Alert Level 3 amid smaller explosions | PHILSTAR.COMThe Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology maintained its Alert Level 3 notice over Taal Volcano on Sunday. It may take another two weeks of observation before the institute updates its alert level.  “Ang alert level number 3, ibig sabihin, merong magmatic activity. Ang magma ay nag-i-intrude o umaakyat papunta sa crater ng dahan-dahan at ang pag-dampi o interaksyon ng mainit na magma o tubig ay sanhi ng mga pagsabog,” Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology Director Renato Solidum Jr. told ABS-CBN’s “TeleRadyo Balita” on Sunday. (Being on alert level number 3 means there is magmatic activity. Magma intrudes or rises into the crater slowly and the touch or interaction of hot magma or water causes the explosions.) Phivolcs said it recorded 14 volcanic earthquakes in the past 24 hours, which included 10 volcanic tremor events that lasted for two to three minutes and four low-frequency volcanic earthquakes. Taal Volcano also had two phreatomagmatic eruptions, which resulted from the interaction of molten rock and water, at 4:34 a.m. and 5:04 a.m. on Sunday. “These events produced 800 meter- and 400-meter-tall plumes, respectively, from the Main Crater that drifted southwest,” Phivolcs said in its Sunday bulletin.

Robredo sends disaster team, volunteers for Taal relief ops in Batangas | Manila BulletinVice President Leni Robredo on Sunday, March 27, sent Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) ground team and volunteers to lead her relief operations in Batangas, where Alert Level 3 has been raised because of the restive Taal Volcano. The Vice President tweeted her gratitude to the team on the ground and the Robredo People’s Council (RPC), which also joined the relief operations. “Thank you to our DRR ground team and RPC volunteers who have been doing relief operations in Batangas,” she wrote. According to Robredo, they have distributed hot meals, bottled water, relief packs and N95 face masks in evacuation centers. She added “they will be covering more evacuation centers” as part of their relief operations. The Facebook group Agoncillians for Leni and Kiko also showed photos of a truck bringing the relief goods from the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
