DOH records 343 new COVID-19 cases as more are tested | PHILSTAR.COM – The Department of Health on Sunday recorded 343 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the department’s official count to a new high of 1,418. The total number of deaths has also risen to 71 while the recoveries jumped to 42. This brings the number of active cases to 1,305.
Lion Air plane bursts into flame at NAIA runway, 8 passengers on board | Manila Bulletin – A Lion Air plane that was taking off at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Sunday night burst into flame and crashed onto the runway with eight people on board. Initial reports indicated that the aircraft, with four flight crew, a doctor, nurse, and a Canadian national who is believed to be the patient and an American companion were headed to Haneda Airport in Japan on a medical evacuation flight. Witnesses said the plane caught fire while taking off.
12 doctors have died of Covid-19 – PHAPI chief | The Manila Times – Twelve doctors have died of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the head of the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines Incorporated (PHAPI) confirmed on Sunday. “Ang latest count po natin ay nasa labindalawa na ang namamatay (Our latest count is 12),” PHAPI president Rustico Jimenez said in a radio interview.
22 Pogo workers, 2 police escorts barred from entering Cagayan province | INQUIRER.NET – Members of the COVID-19 Inter-Agency Task Force had barred 22 Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (Pogo) workers who tried to sneak into the province, authorities said. They reportedly tried to enter the province from Metro Manila after being escorted by two members of the Police Security and Protection Group in Camp Crame.
