Filipino hoop standout Kai Sotto asserted that he’s at one’s fingertips to fit for Gilas Pilipinas Men’s Basketball team that’s set for action this June.

The seven-foot-three baller arrived in the country Monday evening at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, hoping to team up with newly-naturalized center Ange Kouame, to back up a great frontline for the national squad.

This was the first time that Sotto came back to the Philippines after his successful 2-year deal with the Adelaide 36ers in the National Basketball League in Australia, becoming the first Filipino to join the said league.

“I’m excited. It would be my first time playing for the national team,” quipped Sotto in an interview of News5’s Lyn Olivario.

The 19-year old stunner, however, needs to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine so he can join in the practices for the upcoming games of Gilas. This put an uncertainty if he can participate in the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers in Clark, Pampanga on June 16-20.

But despite that, the Las Piñas native is pretty much prepared to be called for the shots of representing the country, once again.

“Whatever happens, I’ll stay ready to play whenever. I’m here for the Philippines,” uttered Sotto in a talk to TV5.

Meantime, the Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) in Belgrade, Serbia will be on June 29-July 4 in which Sotto is known to be one in the team’s lineup.
