We always take pride in our Kababayans who excel in anything that they do.  Be it in sports, entertainments, health & sciences, services, and many more. Pinoys are world-class, talented, and determined in everything and anything that they undertake – Yan ang Pinoy!

At this time, when you often hear historical revisionism, some are contemplating whether a specific event in history happened.  Confusing facts started to surface that tickled the mind of the people. Here in the Philippines, the last historical movie was in 2018, Goyo – the life story of General Gregorio del Pilar, who died during the historic battle in Tirad Pass.

This year, we are about to witness again a historical drama and adventure television miniseries entitled “Boundless”, produced in Spain, and directed by the renowned Hollywood Director – Simon West. Yes, he was responsible for the hit movies like Con Air, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Mechanic, The Expendables 2, and many more.

Boundless is about the 237 men who left Spain captained by Ferdinand Magellan in search of fame, riches, and personal glory. Of the 237 men, only 18 led by Juan Sebastian Elcano were able to return alive to Spain.

Ferdinand Magellan became part of Philippine History for he perished in April 1521 in the historic ‘Battle of Mactan’ in Cebu against the famous Lapu-Lapu and his native allies identified as Rajah Humabon and Datu Zula.

Lapu-Lapu was regarded as the First Philippine hero who resisted the Spanish Colonization. His recorded name is Cilapulapu, a datu of Mactan in Cebu, Visayas. On the other hand, it could be recalled that Rajah Humabon was later baptized as Don Carlos, Rajah of Cebu.

These two characters play important roles in the Spanish historical drama and adventure television miniseries, Boundless. These Filipino heroes are portrayed by talented Pinoys who are currently based in Canada.

Armando Alera, who plays Lapu-Lapu was born in the Philippines and raised in Toronto, Canada. When he was young, he would tell his parents that he wanted to be an actor. He initially pursued martial arts and trained in Muay Thai, Wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Kali, etc.

Before Boundless, he has been acting professionally for 3 ½ years and had been on several North American Film and TV projects. His dream is to play a superhero/villain character in Marvel/DC.

The role of Rajah Humabon was given to another talented Filipino who played this character once when he was still in the Philippines – Jason Asuncion. He is presently in Vancouver, Canada. He migrated with his family to Canada twelve years ago. He is not new a newcomer to TV or Film. Before migrating, he had been appearing in TV commercials like Presto Milk and Tanduay White. He also founded the company, Asuncion Protection Services (APS) Bouncers, one of the biggest bouncer companies in the Philippines. Up to this time, even if he’s based in Canada and working as an actor, he makes sure that he is still on top of everything in his business, the APS Bouncers.

Let’s get to know these two talented gentlemen in our “Kumusta Ka Kabayan” episode at Youtube. Here’s the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJPRSaLMeXA

Boundless is currently being shown in Amazon Prime in the USA and selected countries in Europe.  Negotiations in other countries are ongoing. Let’s support these two guys by watching Boundless.
