More and more people are now venturing into Freelancing.

Ang Pinoy had chance to interview, Ms. Scent Tolentino, a Digital Marketing Specialist and a seasoned Freelancer.  She has three current clients from South Korea, Vietnam, and USA.

Before we went on live, she shared the following valuable information that may help our Kababayans who are into or planning to get into freelancing.

  • Freelancing world is kind of tight now.  For you to thrive in this business, you must be multi-skilled. Of course, it is a must that you have a core expertise but knowing other skills are also important at this time. She said that “makikita mo talaga na nililista ng clients ang skills na dapat marunong nito at marunong ng ganyan.”
  • Contract or agreement with clients differs. Some are project based while some are on per hour basis.
  • Payment or Compensation schedules are usually weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly basis.  She said that usually the clients ask for the freelancer’s preference.
  • For aspiring Freelancers, try to avoid the freelancing sites that are viewed as congested already, “competition is very tight and one’s chance to be hired is super minimal.”

Scent also shared the different sites that an aspiring Freelancer can visit to.  Some are free and some are paid but one thing is for sure, these sites are verified.
