If you do not know what to do, intend not to do anything, or plan to do something but do not know where to do it, one of the best places that will definitely evoke happiness is – Happy Nest. It has that aura of friendship. Unsaid but felt. The place will just simply light up smiles in your hearts.
Happy Nest is what you want it to be. It is a rice farm cum fishpond environment but with enough green shades for comfort. It has five rooms that can accommodate up to six people per room. The room accommodations mimic the farm papag (cot bed) albeit altered to provide the necessary sleep and rest. The papag relives the relaxed days of the youth that experienced farm life while enables the young to savor the feel of sleeping on a farm. It has a dining hall called Feedmill. The foods are great. Its so-called Poultry House is a hall type of building that can easily accommodate thirty to forty people for group activities. There are vegetable gardens, small fishpond and hatchery, and several animal pens for goats, native pigs, and native chicken at the backside of the property.
The initial thought was that the place was a retiree’s concept that wishes to share the fun of farm life. It was a surprise when we met a thirtyish person with a soft cadenced voice that sounds like a nun. Ruth Fe Marie Guzon Butalid had her BA in European Languages from UP Diliman and Master in Management from École Supérieure des Sciences Commerciales d’Angers (ESSCA). She used to be with the corporate world until she opted to go back to the old family farm. We will not be surprised if the native chickens or pigs may respond to French prods. We wish to say merci to Ruth for the happy concept of Happy Nest.
Happy Nest is in Santa Ana, Pampanga and barely sixty to sixty-five kilometers from Quezon City via the NLEX. It is less than two-hour drive on a good weekend. It is easy to find through any navigation app.
