Life suddenly changes when COVID-19 quickly spread throughout the world. This quarantine life already lasted for about 3 months and at this point we all miss our usual daily routine before this pandemic strikes. Sadly, most of us are having a hard time not just fighting this virus but fighting the struggles this virus brought.

As the government implements lockdown and safety measures, some of us lost their jobs, businesses, and other sources of income. Day by day things are getting rough for a lot of people and our savings are quickly dwindling.

Online selling is the new normal in these times. People are now engaging themselves in online selling that gives them huge opportunities.

Consumers changed their lifestyle habits due to pandemic and started adapting online transactions for safety purposes and convenience. It leaves a big impact not only on the business owners but especially to their small-time resellers. Aside from observing social distancing and stay at home protocols, this would also help individuals to become more resourceful and creative or “madiskarte” in this kind of situation.

Social media are becoming more essential to connect with others at a time of quarantine and people took this chance to sell their goods and products online.

Lyanah Katreena Culibao is one of the Filipinos who lost her job because of COVID-19. She was a call center agent from a known BPO company. According to her, things start to get rough after she lost her job. She looked for alternative ways to earn for their daily sustenance. She ventured into online selling.

Lyanah Katreena Culibao, 26 years old – focused and optimistic, a hard-working mom who dedicated her time to earn enough to sustain the needs of her family. Since Online Selling is the new normal, she started by reselling frozen goods until she got her customer’s attention and trust. As her community of consumers grows, she expanded by selling popular meriendas.

“Malaking tulong ito since ito lang ang pinagkukuhaan namin ng income para sa daily expenses namin. Way din ito para hindi namin tuluyang magalaw yung savings na naipon namin”

This pandemic has brought a lot of struggles and challenges to us. Some cannot even imagine how are they going to survive in these times but Lyanah is daring and innovative enough to make money from these challenging times.

Lynah exemplifies the new Filipina in this new normal. She innovates from the necessity to earn and sustain her family’s needs.

Let us aspire, dream, and give our best to make a reality out of our aspirations and dreams.
